Latest Study: Reiki Reduces Stress In IT Professionals in Bangalore

In today’s fast-paced world, software professionals often face high levels of stress due to the demands of their jobs. To address this issue, researchers at Jain University in India conducted a study to investigate the effectiveness of Reiki healing in reducing perceived stress among software professionals in Bangalore. This article summarizes the key findings and implications of the study.

Methodology

The study included 120 software professionals from a software firm in Bangalore, who were divided into four groups: hands-on Reiki, distance Reiki, distance Reiki placebo, and control. The hands-on and distance Reiki groups received daily Reiki healing sessions for 21 days, while the distance Reiki placebo group was assured of healing without receiving any intervention. Pre and post-assessments were conducted to measure perceived stress levels in all groups.

Hands-on Reiki Intervention

Participants in the hands-on Reiki group experienced a significant decrease in perceived stress following the 21-day intervention period. This highlights the efficacy of hands-on Reiki in promoting stress reduction among software professionals.

Distance Reiki Intervention

Similarly, participants in the distance Reiki group also reported a significant reduction in perceived stress levels after receiving Reiki healing remotely for 21 days. This demonstrates the effectiveness of distance Reiki as a complementary therapy for stress management.

Distance Reiki Placebo Intervention

Interestingly, participants in the distance Reiki placebo group, who were assured of healing without receiving any intervention, did not experience a significant change in perceived stress levels. This suggests that belief in the healing modality alone may not be sufficient to elicit a therapeutic effect on perceived stress.

Results

The results of the study revealed a significant reduction in perceived stress among participants in the hands-on Reiki and distance Reiki groups. However, there was no significant change in perceived stress levels among participants in the distance Reiki placebo group or the control group. This suggests that the power of belief in Reiki healing, as experienced in the hands-on and distance Reiki groups, played a significant role in reducing perceived stress levels.

Overall, the findings of this study suggest that both hands-on and distance Reiki interventions can be effective in reducing perceived stress among software professionals. These results underscore the importance of incorporating complementary therapies like Reiki into stress management programs in professional settings. Further research is warranted to explore the long-term effects of Reiki healing on stress reduction and overall well-being in diverse populations.
