For more than two decades I have been seeing new products being claimed to take care of cervical sensitivity 'for ever'. But it is a truth that we can't render permanent relief to this problem for our patients even when non carious cervical cavity has been restored. Now that we know these abfraction lesions are caused by flexure and ultimate material fatigue of susceptible teeth at locations away from the point of loading, a permanent solution may not be far behind. It is vital to know that abfraction can occur even gingival to the margins of crowns and that the amount of load placed on teeth plays a key role.

The fluoride in water being high in several areas of India, we come across patients with fluorosis stains. A novel approach to treat these stains is described . The author claims it to be an effective and simple method. No extra devices or equipments are needed, you can try out yourselves in the clinic.

To catch up with the latest in antibiotic usage, studies are showing that long term subantimicrobial doses of doxycycline given to adult periodontitis patients do not alter or contribute to alterations in antibiotic susceptibility of the subgingival microflora compared with placebo.

Before you decide on the treatment regime for the periodontitis patient check out on his habits. A recent study has concluded that the individual with reduced intake of dietary vitamin C have greater risk of periodontal disease and if these individuals also smoke, the risk is further increased.
