Dr Alpana had a love marriage with Vishal, who is a medical representative, about five years back.
Both have a two-year-old child. Dr Alpana’s father Radhacharan, however, has lodged an FIR claiming that Vishal had been frequently fighting with her daughter demanding money. At times he used to give money to the couple to solve the dispute, the complainant said. NEWSLINK

Kerala bans Gutka and pan masala
The Kerala Government has imposed a blanket ban on the manufacturing and sale of gutka/pan masala in the state. Kerala has thus become the second State in the country after Madhya Pradesh to ban gutka products.
The increasing incidence of gutka-induced diseases like oral cancer prompted the Government to take such a decision. The Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare had, in April this year, informed the state government that States had the jurisdiction to ban gutka/pan masala under the Food Safety and Standards Regulation Act, 2011.    NEWSLINK

Laser offers no advantage in perio treatment
The literature so far is mixed, but a new study to be presented at the upcoming International Association for Dental Research (IADR) meeting has found that the use of a Nd:YAG laser does not provide a significant advantage during a periodontal maintenance care program.
The Nd:YAG lasers have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for soft-tissue treatment.
“To date, the addition of using lasers in the nonsurgical treatment of periodontal disease has minimal evidence to support their use in this fashion alone or as an adjunct,” he said. “The use of lasers in a surgical environment may be an appropriate adjunct to conventional periodontal surgery, but more research is needed to understand the benefit of laser use in this context.”  MORE HERE
