Orthodontic Hardware v/s Software

Can you think of a PC without software, what will it do? Funnily lot of dentists believe that they can just manage with orthodontic hardware. Imagine what all you will be able to do once you have the software, you will be able to perform all the useful operations with ease and speed.

1.Nobel Direct was launched in 2004 by Nobel Biocare AB. The implants were considered a great innovation, as they could be screwed directly into the jawbone without having to first lift up the mucous membrane. After one year, about five per cent of the implants were lost, and 20 per cent of the remaining implants showed bone loss of more than three millimetres. The new report indicates that after three years, eight per cent of the implants had been lost, and 25 per cent of the remaining implants showed bone loss of more than three millimetres. MORE HERE

2.The Hall Technique, which uses preformed metal crowns pushed onto teeth with no dental injections or drilling, is favored over traditional "drill and fill" methods by the majority of children ?

The Hall Technique was preferred to conventional restorations by the majority of children, carers and GDPs. After two years, Hall PMCs showed more favourable outcomes for pulpal health and restoration longevity than conventional restorations. 3.Did you know that new research may allow dentists to detect breast cancer via saliva tests.

The test checks saliva for marker proteins that give an early warning of the disease.
Clinical trials of a prototype are in the planning stage, the University of Texas Dental Branch team told the journal Cancer Investigation. More Here
